Meet the Team Part 1

Anna Curtis (Tinks)

I am a good country girl and a Dorset lass to boot. I have spent many an hour riding up on Bell Hill watching the colourful gliders above, wanting to be up there with them. After one trip to France and having barely got my tippy-toes off the ground, I left three jobs to be a full time member of staff. I have already leant many new skills and been to some beautiful places with Flight Culture. I work alongside John, not only out on the hill, but behind the scenes, oiling the cogs that keep Flight Culture running smoothly. I'm also working towards becoming an instructor.

Spencer Brown

I am Trainee Instructor for Flight Culture and have been flying paragliders since 2003 but I fall in love with flying at a very young age. I started when I was 14 flying sailplanes, I later tried my luck with hangliding and skydiving. I decided to take up paragliding when I saw people soaring the cliff close to where I live, and I have to say, that was one of the best decisions in my life.

I work in Norwich as a safety diver for a company specialising in training people in offshore sea survival and underwater helicopter escape. My motorbike and power-kites are my hobby. I am also absolutely crazy about my two dogs, which take the majority of my free time.

Basia Tychmann (Bash)

I have been dreaming about being able to fly since I was a child but it took me years before I have started paragliding. It was mostly because I wasn't really sure how I want to fly. I went on my first trip with Flight Culture in 2006 and soon realised that paragliding is a greater adventure than I have expected! Several years later and I am now a Trainee Instructor for Flight Culture and I can't imagine a better school to be trained with. When I am not flying I am working as an assistant psychologist - hoping to become a clinical psychologist one day. I am very passionate about photography, which also has been in my life since childhood.

Phil Barron

I've been flying for over 10 years and have nearly a 1000 hours. I am the CFI of Cloud Surfer Ireland Tandem school, the only BHPA commercial tandem school in Ireland and TI to the Flight Culture team. I enjoy walks in the country, playing chess, ballroom dancing, morris dancing, playing patience with the girls from the local church meeting!!! HOLD ON THAT'S SOME OTHER FN MUG I'M TALKING ABOUT.I sing with my band every weekend, the harder we play the harder they rock!! I love movies, the jumpier the better; love AC/DC and Led Zepp; laying on the floor playing wrestling with my two sons Sam and Sean; love anything that goes from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds; love playing pool, (when you come out to the Dune I'll show you and make your eyes spin); love meeting new people and trying to get them to understand my accent. I like to hold court and try to get as many people to laugh at the same time..

Vikki Palmer

I've been flying paragliders since 1998, before that it was sailplanes and light aircraft. For many years I taught for Flight Culture full time, and had a brilliant time with a fantastic group of people. Now I work in a school for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and work for Flight Culture in the school holidays. At weekends if its not flyable I'm often coaching or messing about in boats - canoes, sea kayaks and whitewater kayaks. Teaching paragliding is incredible, its always great to see people achieving things that they never thought they would be able to
