The Flying

The Pilot Development Course (Pilotage) is a combination of basic skills and “soft” SIV. Take off is around 1200m above the landing site so there is plenty of space to practice manoeuvres. We'll practice Big Ears, B-line stalls, spirals, all types of collapses (both symmetric and asymmetric), wing-overs, quick 8’s, as well as taking you to the point of spin and stall. If you’re already comfortable with this we'll take you further and put you fully into these manoeuvres. You’ll come away from this course with solid skills that you will be able to incorporate into your normal flying and at the same time will be a much more competent and confident pilot. If conditions are appropriate we’ll work on sharpening up your thermalling technique and XC skills. This course requires a minimum of 10 hrs experience (but we recommend 20).

Accomodation

We will be staying at a campsite by the lake during the trip which is convienient for the flying sites. The campsite has its own beach and internet access.

Cost

The price for the week is £450. This includes instruction, an auto inflate life jacket, and radio. There is a bus that runs from Milan airport to Capolago (as well as train) and we’ll meet you at either the bus or train station. Non flying partners are welcome please enquire for costs. The price does not include flights, equipment (hire can be arranged), insurance, camping, meals or the railway up the mountain to take-off.
