Welcome to Trips Abroad

Flight Culture has been running trips abroad since 2000. We offer activity holidays where you can join us for great weather, a terrific social atmosphere and plenty of flying. Many of our holidays also accommodate non-flying partners or friends and they will always be included with the rest of the group. We want to provide an environment where the group is happy and relaxed, as this in turn reflects on flying progress.

We have specific destinations for every level of pilot; for example Dune de Pyla is a safe environment for your first few hops, or for Club Pilots we have advanced manoeuvres in Switzerland where you can push yourself and your glider to the limit. If you fancy adventure and culture, how about Argentina? With expert tuition from all our dedicated staff we have the means to really get the best out of you while maintaining a very individual approach. You will receive all the lectures you need and when you are ready we will encourage you to take your theory exams. Once you are qualified, flying becomes a very realistic dream that you can follow forever.

If we are unfortunate and have a day that is non-flyable, we don't simply abandon you. We'll have a whole host of other activities from walking inside volcanoes and lava tubes to go-karting, horse riding or surfing; whatever you fancy we have enough local knowledge to advise you. One of our specialities is our group meals. CFI John Welch, worked as a head chief in France and cooks specialities from that reign, as well as some exclusive recipes passed on by Grandma Welch. You'll get everything from three course meals to Argentinean asados, using the finest ingredients that the local area has to offer.
When you leave us you will take away more than just flying experiences; you'll have new friends and memories that will last forever.

Dune de Pyla

7th to 14th May 2011 - 14th May to 21st May 2011

10th September to 17th September 2011 - 17th September to 24th September 2011

Great weather, clear blue seas, fine wine and of course excellent flying make this coastal location perfect for summer soaring. Situated next to Arcachon near Bordeaux on the west coast of France , Dune de Pyla is the largest sand dune in Europe .

Pilot Rating :-

Suitable for all levels.

The Flying:-

This is a Paragliders paradise offering reliable flying weather during the summer months. The first time you see the dune it completely takes your breath away. It is over 3km in length, reaches 107 metres above sea level and is absolutely stunning! There's lots of space and soft fine sand which makes it an excellent place for beginners.

For the more experienced pilots, you will benefit from the opportunity to learn advanced ground handling and soaring skills. We take many people from complete beginner to accomplishing some basic club pilot manoeuvres within the week.

If you are after your tandem rating this is an ideal venue.

The dune has a really relaxed atmosphere where we fly in t-shirts and shorts and once the gliders are packed away we sit and watch the sunset over the sea to finish off a perfect day.

Accomodation:-

The campsite backs on to the dune, so our flying site is just a short walk away. We stay in comfortable mobile homes where you will have your own private room. Although this is a self-catering trip, we tend to organise our evening meals as a group.

The campsite facilities include a swimming pool, bar, restaurant and a shop. Beaches, bicycle hire and water sports are all within easy reach making this a family friendly holiday.
