Kenya

27th February to 12th March |
Continuing with our goal of finding new and exciting places to fly, we’ll be visiting Kenya and flying the Eastern arm of the Great Rift Valley. |
Pilot Rating:- Club Pilot. |
The Flying:- |
The take off and top landing area is in the grounds of the Kerio View (where we’re staying). Top landing is very straight forward although there is a plateau 350 m below or the valley floor, 1200 m below, both offering easy options. The flying will be thermic and conditions tend to be very consistant. Cross countries are possible although making your way back after landing could be an adventure! Experienced pilots have taken thermals to over 5000 m in this area however conditions are generally quite easy so this trip is also suitable for the less experienced.

Accomodation:- |
|
| We will be staying at the Kerio View, a hotel, resturant and bar with a number of cottages for rent. Kerio View is situated on the edge of the rift and is 2360 m above sea level so nights can sometimes be a little chilly. All rooms are shared (2 per room) although private rooms are avaliable for a surcharge. Our breakfast will be provided each morning and dinner each evening except for 2, when we will eat out. |

We will be picking up from JK international airport, Nairobi at 12 noon on Sunday, 27 February. We have 2 x 10-seat mini buses booked, one to transport us and one for our bags. The journey is about 380 Km on good paved roads and the scenery is stunning. It will take us about 6 hours (inc a stop for 30 mins in Nakuru which is about half way) and we’ll have dinner waiting for us on arrival. The return transfer will get you back to JK airport by 2pm on the 12 March
